1st Gov. Emmylou Lala J. Talino-Mendoza North Cotabato Mindanao Open Chess Championship

While Wesley So continues his spell at the World Chess Cup in Khanty Mansiysk, his fellow Filipinos competed in the 1st Gov. Emmylou Lala J. Talino-Mendoza North Cotabato Mindanao Open Chess Championship.

The tournament, managed by Dr. Ted Calica of Pres. Kidapawan Chess Club, Inc, was held from 27th to 31st August at the Prov’l Capitol, Amas, Kidapawan City.

After nine rounds of play, IM Richard Bitoon, GM Roland Salvador and IM Oliver Dimakiling shared the first place with 7.5 points each. IM Bitoon, who defeated GM Darwin Laylo with Black in the final round, is declared winner on best tiebreak score.
