Bulgaria to bid for the 2013 World Chess Cup and 2014 Chess Olympiad (Updated)

According to the newspaper “Standart”, Bulgaria is preparing huge investment to candidate for the host of the 2013 World Chess Cup and 2014 Chess Olympiad. Documents should be presented tomorrow to the FIDE Deputy President Georgios Makropoulos. The events would take place at the Black Sea resort Albena, where the huge playing hall is already under construction.

The first game of the World Chess Championship between Anand and Topalov will be postponed 2 hours more. It will start at 16:00 CET (17:00 local time), and the reason is the previous arrangements that the Prime Minister and Head of the Organizing Committee Boiko Borisov has in Varna, a city at the other end of the country, on the north-east seaside.

The opening ceremony of the 2010 FIDE World Chess Championship match had starting at 17:00 CET. There were more than 20 TV cameras and about 100 journalists attending. Speeches were given by Bulgaria Prime Minister Boiko Borisov, Indian Ambassador and FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
