A few days ago at a press conference the Sports Minister Svilen Neikov and the organizers of the match Anand – Topalov confirmed that Viswanathan Anand is already in Sofia for the World Chess Championship match and all rooms of Anand’s team are already inhabited. However, events took an unexpected turn. On Sunday at 12:00 CET All India Chess Federation sent a statement to the Chessdom headquarters, regarding a scenario we warned about.

Six days before the opening ceremony of Anand – Topalov World Championship match, the Chessdom.com visited the playing hall – the Military Club in Sofia. The photographers made the first pictures of the venue, the management talked to the organizers, while IM Alexander Ipatov, one of the live games commentators of Chessdom, inspected the press center.

As Chessdom.com informed yesterday, Sofia is entering in final preparations for the start of the WCC match between Veselin Topalov and Viswanathan Anand. The venue of the World Chess Championship – the Military Club – has been fully renovated. There is still no confirmation on the exact date and time of the arrival of Anand. By contract he should come on the 16th of April with 5 accompanying persons.

The 4th Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez Ciudad de La Laguna was held on 5-11th April in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife. Finally, six players, including GM Kurajica and GM Heberla who scored victories in the last round, shared the first place with seven points each. Polish GM Kamil Miton had the best tiebreak score and was declared winner.
