European Chess Union and Bulgarian Chess Federation are pleased to invite all European Chess Federations affiliated to FIDE and ECU to participate at the 26th European Club Cup for Men and 15th European Club Cup for Women 2010. The Championship will be held in Plovdiv (located 130 km south-west from the capital Sofia). The dates are October 16th (day of arrival) until October 24th 2010 (day of departure).
Copa Latinoamericana de Ajedrez 2010 will take place 18th-23rd of August in Cusco, Peru. It will feature some of the top Grandmasters of the region. Top seeded is GM Julio Granada (2639), followed by GM Eduardo Iturrizaga, GM Diego Flores, GM Ruben Felgaer, GM Neuris Delgado, and GM Gilberto Hernandez, etc.
On Sunday, 15 August, Ruslan Ponomariov gave a simul in Mukachevo. He played against kids – guests of the Transkarpathian Cup. The 2002-2004 FIDE World Champion won all games. Sunday was a rest day for Arkadij Naiditsch and Zahar Efimenko, who are playing a a six-games match, also in Mukachevo, Ukraine. After the first three games Naiditsch is leading by 2-1.
The NH Chess Tournament Rising Stars vs Experience will take place in Amsterdam, August 12th-22nd, 2010. The ‘Experience’ team consists of Boris Gelfand (Israel), Peter Svidler (Russia), Peter Heine Nielsen (Denmark), Loek van Wely (The Netherlands) and Ljubomir Ljubojevic (Serbia).
