38th Ikaros International Chess Tournament 2015

Once again, for the 38th consecutive time, “Ikaros” is preparing to host the Greek and foreign chess players who will visit the beautiful island of Ikaria this summer seeking to combine chess with low cost vacation.

The 38th International Chess Tournament “Ikaros” 2015 will be held from Saturday 11th till Sunday 19th of July at Aghios Kirykos, the capital town of Ikaria. This year “Ikaros” introduces some changes that we hope will make the tournament more interesting.

As always the main objective of “Ikaros” is to offer to all its guests the chance to combine a competitive tournament with pleasant and inexpensive vacations. So, this year again the overall participation cost is kept low.

The basic package per person in a double room costs 200 euros for the period 12-20 July and includes accommodation (the board expenses are not included), entry fee, daily transportation to the playing venue and transportation from and to the port of Evdilos, in case this is necessary due to the ferry schedule.

Prices get lower in case of triple of four bed rooms, while, as every year, there are special discounts for families, juniors, club teams and unemployed people. Moreover there are additional discounts for those who will pay in advance.

Additionally, like the previous years, the organization committee will try to get reduced ferry ticket prices for the tournament participants.

The official announcement of the tournament, which, as always, also includes various side events (the annual Mediterranean Team Rapid Tournament, blitz and blind tournaments, problem solving contest etc.) can be found here or can be downloaded as .doc or .pdf.
