Brazil Chess Championship Round 7

The 78th Brazil Chess Championship is taking place from 10th to 20th December, 2011, at the Hotel Dann Inn CambuĂ­ in Campinas. 12 players compete in the round robin tournament.

The competitors exercise a fantastic fighting spirit and only a handful of draws were signed. In round seven all games ended with decisive results.

GM Rafael Leitao, four-times champion of Brazil, is maintaining a full-point margin ahead of the 2005 champion Alexandr Fier.

The defending champion Giovanni Vescovi defeated the legendary Henrique Mecking with black pieces but is still bellow the 50% fold.
