{Pretty unexpected, Vishwanatan Anand is sitting on -1 after four rounds in Corus. Levon Aronian, on the other hand, is sharing the lead with Carlsen. Still, we should have in mind their last game, when Vishy won win black pieces in ultra-sharp Moskow variation. Most likely we will see another line of Slav defence.} 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 d5 4. Nc3 c6 5. Bg5 h6 { As expected, Anand is gladly running into the Moskow variation.} 6. Bxf6 { But this time Aronian is avoiding sharp 6. Bh4 g5 7. Bg3} Qxf6 7. Qc2 { This move is not so common, 7. e3 is more popular, but it can be very poisonous as GM Alex Yermolinski proved in his games.} dxc4 8. e3 { 8. e4 is inferior and tried in only couple of games.} b5 9. a4 Bb7 {It is not possible to keep the extra pawn, and black wants to get the most of development while white is trying to get material back.} 10. axb5 cxb5 11. Nxb5 Bb4+ { Well known maneuver, used in Botvinnik variation as well.} 12. Nc3 O-O 13. Be2 {No time to take on c4, as Nf3 was hanging.} Nd7 14. O-O Rfc8 15. Rfc1 { So far, both players had normal developing moves. Aronian will now press on c4, tying black pieces in defence, before trying to move central pawns.} a5 16. Nd2 (16. Na4 { Beliavsky and Bacrot played Na4 against Kramnik and Gurevich respectively.}) 16... Nb6 17. Bf3 Qe7 18. Bxb7 Qxb7 19. h3 Rc7 {The position is not really offering any perspective for advantage. 20. e4 might be the best try.} 20. Qd1 {Idea is to shuffle the Queen to g4 or h5, and save e4 square to transfer one of the Knight to kingside. Hopefully, Aronian is not aiming for Queens exchange with Qf3 :) Update!
