GM Anton Kovalyov convincing in Foxwoods Open

The 12th Foxwoods Open was held on 22-26th January at Foxwoods Resort Casino & Hotel, Rt 2, Mashantucket, Connecticut.

The tournament was played in six sections and over 9 rounds of Swiss system. The Open section is FIDE rated and title norms were possible.

The Open Section was won convincingly by GM Anton Kovalyev who finished with 8,0/9 points, one and a half points ahead of his nearest rival.

In sole second place was IM Samuel Sevian whose performance was also good enough for a GM norm, which is very impressive in itself for a player who just turned 13 last month.
