Jahongir Vakhidov wins Central Asia Cup

The 3rd Central Asia Cup for the prizes of FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was conducted from 11th to 21st October 2013 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

38 players from the Central Asia countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – took part in the 9-round tournament with the prize fund 25,000 USD.

IM Jahongir Vakhidov from Uzbekistan took a clear first place with 7,0/9 points. Further, Vakhidov also fulfilled a Grandmaster norm.

Kazakhstan representatives IM Kirill Kuderinov and GM Pavel Kotsur shared the second place with 6,5 points each.

1. IM Vakhidov Jahongir UZB 2423 – 7,0
2-3. IM Kuderinov Kirill KAZ 2465 and GM Kotsur Pavel KAZ 2559 – 6,5
4-8. GM Amonatov Farrukh TJK 2624, GM Kazhgaleyev Murtas KAZ 2576, GM Kostenko Petr KAZ 2500, GM Barsov Alexei UZB 2535 and IM Khamdamov Suhrob TJK 2292 – 6,0
9-12. GM Dzhumaev Marat UZB 2565, IM Isaev Jamshed TJK 2322, FM Djuraev Sokhib TJK 2354 and Ilhomzoda Ikrom TJK 2212 – 5,5 etc
