Kosteniuk and Dimitrijevic share first in FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship qualifier

1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship 2015The prestigious FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship 2015 started on Thursday with the first qualifier tournament being played on the official FIDE Online platform.

The start of the race saw an impressive field with 38 players from 23 countries, including 2 Grandmasters, 9 IMs, 8 WGMs, 6 WIMs, 6 WFMs, 1 WCM and 1 AGM.

Former World Champion GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia) and WGM Aleksandra Dimitrijevic (BIH) separated themselves from the rest of the field to share the first place with 9,0/11 points each.

Point and a half behind are GM Harika Dronavalli, IM Eesha Karavade (both India) and WGM Anna Burtasova (Russia). Also qualified for the semifinal are WFM Tea Gueci (Italy), IM Cristina Adela Foisor (Romania), both on 7,0 points, and WGM Meenakshi Subbaraman (India) on 6,5 points. Full standings below.

The first stage of the Championship will be completed over eight (8) qualifier tournaments, followed by a semifinal with 64 players, and a final tournament with 10 players.

A rich prize fund of 9000 USD will be awarded in the final tournament.

Registrations for the FIDE event are continuously open. The players can compete from the comfort of their home, without costs associated with the hotels and airfares.

The competition will take place on the official FIDE Arena Online platform. FIDE Online uses AceGuard, anti-cheating and security software of new generation. Based on advanced behavioral analysis and the activities of the players, AceGuard indicates deviations from proper procedures of play.
