Larry Evans Memorial Open in Reno, Nevada

Larry EvansThe 3rd Annual Larry Evans Memorial Open, formerly the Far West Open, will take place on 18-20th April at the Sands Regency Hotel/Casino in Reno, Nevada.

The tournament format is 6-round Swiss with the time control 40/2, G/1 d5 in five sections – Open, A, B, C and D. The Open section will be FIDE rated.

The prize fund of $21,000 is based on 250 entries, with $14,000 guaranteed.

Open (2000 & above): EF: $137, (1999 & below = $151) $$2,000-1,200-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300,300, (2399/below) $1,000, (2299/below) $1,000,(2199/below) $1000-500-300-200 (If a tie for 1st then a playoff for $100 out of prize fund plus trophy).
A (1800-1999): EF: $136; $$1,000-500-400-300-200-100-100.
B (1600-1799): EF: $135; $$900-500-400-300-200-100-100.
C (1400-1599): EF: $134; $$700-500-400-300-200-100-100.
D (1399-below): EF: $133; $$600-400-300-200-100-100-100; Top Senior (65+) $200; Club Champ. $400-200.

Top seeded players are Grandmasters Timur Gareev, Melikset Khachiyan, Sergey Kudrin, Jesse Kraai, Alexander Ivanov, Enrico Sevillano and Walter Browne.

Lecture by IM John Donaldson on Thursday evening 6-7:15pm.
GM Melikset Khachiyan $20 simul on Thursday evening.
FREE IM John Donaldson game/position analysis clinic on Saturday afternoon.

Side Event:
7:30pm Five Minute Blitz (G/5 d0) Tournament on Thursday night. $20 with 80% of entries returned as prizes.
