Markovic, Benderac win Central Serbia Chess Championships

The Individual Chess Championships of Central Serbia were held on 18-24 February 2013 in Pozarevac, Serbia.

There was an Open section and a Women’s section. Both groups were played over 9 rounds of Swiss pairings.

Grandmasters Miroslav Markovic and Miodrag R Savic shared the first place in the Open section with 7,0/9 points each and qualified for the Final of Serbian Championships which will be held in May.

Thanks to the better tie-break Markovic took the winner’s trophy and repeated the last year’s success. Markovic was Yugoslav champion in 1998 and formerly rated among the top 100 players in the world.
