51st Imperia Chess Tournament

GM Karen Movsziszian retained the trophy, jubilee book presented

The 51st international chess tournament with 160 players from 10 countries concluded yesterday in Imperia in Italian province Liguria (near border with France). Armenian Grandmaster Karen Movsziszian collected 7.0 points from 9 rounds and defended his last year’s title. IM Salvador from Philippines collected the same number of points, but weaker tiebreak brought him second place, while GM Sanchez (Philippines) and GM Sulava (Croatia, Imperia winner in 2006 and 2007) shared third place with 6.5 points. Further, GM Chatalbashev (Bulgaria), IM Okhotnik (France), FM Lacrosse (Belgium) and FM Molina (Italy) finished with 6.0 points.

On the final day, Mr. Antonino Faraci presented his book about the previous 50 tournament editions. This valuable book, important for every chess collector, can be ordered via email scacchi.imperia@libero.it.
