European Team Chess Championship 2009

Italy and Montenegro announced their teams

The European Team Chess Championship is set to take place on 21-31st October in Novi Sad, Serbia. Novi Sad is a beautiful city located on the river Danube, south edge of the Pannonian Plain and across the mountain Fruska Gora, and it already hosted the 1990 Chess Olympiad. Russian national teams will defend both men and women titles, which were claimed two years ago in Creta Maris.

Mr. Adolivio Capece has kindly informed us about Italian roster, as decided by IM Fabio Bruno, the captain of the Italian Chess Federation. GM Daniele Vocaturo and IM Sabino Brunello are not in competition because they will play at the World U20 Chess Championship in Argentina, the dates of which clash with the ETCC.

Italy men: GM Fabiano Caruana, GM Michele Godena, IM Carlo D’Amore, IM Luca Shitaj, IM Denis Rombaldoni

Italy women: WGM Elena Sedina, WGM Olga Zimina, WFM Marina Brunello, WFM Eleonora Ambrosi, WFM Marianna Chierici

The Montenegro Chess Federation also has teams with final board order posted on their website.

Women: Jovana Vojinovic, Aleksandra Mijovic, Marija Stojanovic, Sanja Misovic, Lidija Blagojevic

Serbia teams were known well in advance. If you are aware of your country’s rosters, please let us know and we will update the information.

The ETCC official website appears not to be updated since 5th June.
