Serbian Team Championship - Round 6

VSK Gorenje suffered first loss, Beograd Beopublikum getting closer

Spartak from Subotica defeated VSK Gorenje in the 6th round of the Serbian Team Championship and cut their lead to only one point, thus making the race more interesting. The only decided game in the match was Nikola Djukic's win against Dragoljub Velimirovic. Ivan Ivanisevic nearly managed to equalize but Dusan Popovic fanatically defended rook endgame with pawn down.

Beograd Beopublikum defeated Radnicki on 1st and 6th board with other games drawn for a 4-2 overall win. After the shaky start, they are now breathing on the neck of the leading VSK Gorenje. Partizan surprised BSK Gambit with strong resistance. Not even the inspired play of Yuri Solodovnichenko, BSK leader and also Chessdom contributor, didn't help as IM Zoran Arsovic and legendary GM Milan Matulovic turned the tables in Partizan's favor.

Top eight teams are running on only 3 points distance, while it is clear that Sloga Amiga, Radnicki, Agronom and Rad will fight to avoid the relegation.

Radnicki Rudovci scored another narrow 2.5-1.5 win, this time against Zlatar, to catch on the 2nd place tie in the Women's League. Leading Rad and rested BAS were held off to equal scores by ZTP and MPS Progress. Top four teams will be engaged in fearless battle for the championship until the very last move.
