WGM Cosma and GM Parligras are 2016 Romanian Chess Champions

romaniaThe Romanian Chess Championships 2016 for men and women were held from 2-10th April at Hotel Parang in Olanesti.

The Championships were organized by the F.R. Sah, CS Tinerii Maestrii Bucuresti and IO Elena Cristian. Both sections were played as 9-round Swiss events.

The women’s championship had 23 participants. WGM Elena-Luminita Cosma convincingly took the title with 7,5 points, leaving the nearest follower a full point behind. This is her fourth national title after 1991, 1992 and 2010.

The men’s championship had 51 participants. GM Mircea-Emilian Parligras emerged champion in the same convincing fashion, finishing with 7,5 points and a full point margin. This is his second title, after 2001. Full standings for both events below.
