100-square-meter Chess Board arrived in Stavanger

The MegaChess set from RMD Recuperacion Materiales Diversos built from 1.250 recycled tires has just arrived in Stavanger, Norway! The chess pieces are made from recycled tires, weighing up to 240kg, and sit on the 100 squared meter chess board – the largest chess board in the World! The King piece is 180cm tall, being about the same height as the World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen. The chess pieces will have small wheels beneath to be easily moved through the squares.

The MegaChess set will be open for the public to play this summer and it’s expected to attract many chess enthusiasts during the Norway Chess 2022 – taking place from May 31st to June 10th in Stavanger.
