16th Annual Mid-America Open

The 16th Annual Mid-America Open will take place from March 16-18, 2012, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel St. Louis-Clayton, 7750 Carondelet Ave., St. Louis, Missouri (I-64 W/US 40-W Exit 32B, 1.2 miles north on Hanley Rd).

The event has a $18,000 projected prize fund with $12,000 guaranteed.

The event has 7 sections: Open, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400, Under 1200 and Under 900. All sections are 5 round Swiss tournaments with 3-day and 2-day schedules to play in.

Open Section: $2000-1000-500-300, clear winner or 1st on tiebreak $100 bonus, top U2300 $900, U2200 $800, U2100 $700. FIDE rated.

Last year seven players finished tied for 1st in the Open Section with 4/5. IM Angelo Young ended up with the best tie-breaks.
