The National Chess Championship of Dominican Republic 2013 is taking place from April 26th until May 12th at the Centro Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte in Santo Domingo.
The president of the Dominican Chess Federation, Pedro Dominguez Brito, highlighted that this year edition will be dedicated to the memory of the previous president of this federation, Luis Belliard.
The fund prize amounts to over 100.000 pesos, besides trophies, medals, and certificates donated by INTEC, Logomarca and the Ministry of Sports.
Sixty four players from the main provinces of the country qualified to the event. These athletes gained their spot by winning a municipal championship.
Lisandro Muñoz will defend his title as the first seeded player.
