27th Metropolitan Chess FIDE Invitational

Metropolitan Chess, Inc. hosted a Grandmaster norm round robin tournament from May 15 to May 19, 2013.

This tournament was the 27th in its series and was held in Suite C855 of the California Market Center on 110 East 9th Street, Los Angeles 90079. The tournament was organized by Ankit Gupta, FA, IO.

The participants included: GM Melikset Khachiyan (USA), GM Vladimir Georgiev (MKD), GM Enrico Sevillano (USA), IM Zhanibek Amanov (KAZ), IM Andranik Matikozyan (ARM), and IM Larry Remlinger (USA).

The tournament was a 6 player double round-robin (all play all), with rounds scheduled as follows – 15th: 1:00 PM & 7:00 PM, 16th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 17th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 18th: 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM, 19th: 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM

IM Andranik Matikozyan took clear first with a final score of 7.5/10.0. He also scored a GM norm in the process, exceeding the norm requirement by 0.5 points. This is his second GM norm.
