The 2nd Noel Skelton Open will take place from 31st August to 1st September (Labor Day Weekend) at the Crown Plaza Minneapolis West, 3131 Campus Drive, Plymouth, Minnesota.
The tournament sponsor is committed to secure participation of Wesley So, the young Filipino Grandmaster, as the star player this year. He is rated 2710 on the August FIDE list, making him number 34 in the world.
The tournament will have five sections – Premier (open to all), Reserve (U1800), Bantam (U1200), Beginners (U800 and unrated) and Sunday Side event. The playing format is five round swiss.
Top prizes in the Premier section are USD 1000/500, the others depend on the number of participants.
