2nd Recession Buster Open

The 2nd Annual Recession Buster Open is set to take place on 16-18th February at the Marriott San Diego Airport/Liberty Station, 2592 Lanning Rd., San Diego, CA 92106.

The event consists of four sections – Open, U2100, U1700 and U1300. All sections will be played over six rounds of Swiss system with the time control 40/90, SD/60, d/10.

Currently top rated players are: Grandmasters Enrico Sevillano, Melikset Khachiyan, Carlos Matamoros, WGM Tatev Abrahamyan, International Masters Dionisio Aldama, Roman Yankovsky, Andranik Matikozyan, Timothy Taylor and Jack Peters.

Prizes:
$20,000 Guaranteed prize fund
Open Section: 1st $2,200-1,600-1,200-1,000-800-600, BU2300 $800-400,
U2100 Section: $1,200-800-600-400-300; BU1900:$800-400
U1700 Section: $1,200-800-600-400-300; BU1500 $500- 300,
U1300 Section: $700-400-300-200, BU1100 $300-150-100, Best Unrated $100.
Plus Best Game Prizes: $75-50-25, one reserved for non-open sections.
Unrated prize limits: U1300 $100, U1700 $200, U2100 $400, place prizes only in the Open Section.

Entry fees:
$100 if received by 2/12, $120 at door. No credit cards at door, checks or cash only. Special rate of only $75 if U1300 or unrated. Special rate for GMs and IMs: $20 if registered by 2/12, or $60 late entry at door. SCCF membership required ($18 Adult, $13 Junior ) for all So Cal residents. Open section will be FIDE rated except for the 3 fast games in the 2 day.
