30 teams in the 1st European Universities Chess Championship

European Universities Chess Championship 2015The European University Sports Association (EUSA) recognized chess as an official sport and included it in the European Universities Championships and Games.

The 1st European Chess Universities Championship will be held in Yerevan, Armenia from 6th to 11th October 2015.

The main organizer is Armenian Student Sports Federation (ARMSSF), with the support of the Armenian Chess Federation.

News Agency Sputnik reports that currently 30 teams from 15 countries are registered to take part in the event, as announced by the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science.

Minister Armen Ashotyan said: “We must do everything possible for the young people who visit Armenia to feel that they in the chess-loving country.”
