40th Carroll Capps Memorial

The 40th Carroll Capps Memorial will be held on 3-4th November as a 6-round Swiss at the Chess Club Mechanics Institute, 57 Post St., San Francisco.

Carroll Mather Capps (1917-1971) was an American science fiction author. He was also a long-time benefactor of San Francisco chess. He was a former president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chess League, and won the Northern California and San Francisco chess championship several times.

Prizes: $1600 – total, based on 50 paid entries.
Overall: 1st 400, 2nd $250, 3rd $150,
Best Under 2200 – $200, Best Under 2000 – $150, Best Under 1800 – $125, Best Under 1600 – $115, Best Under 1400 – $110, Best Under 1200 – $60, Unrated $40

All lower-rated players are eligible to win higher class prizes

Entry fee: $40 for MI members, $45 for non-members.
Late fee of $5 for entries received after October 31
Make checks payable to the Mechanics’ Institute.
