43rd World Chess Open

The 43rd Annual World Chess Open is taking place from June 30-July 5, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

The event has 8 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400, Under 1200 and Unrated.

The Open section has a 5-day schedule (July 1-5), the Under 2200 to Under 1200 sections have either 6-day (June 30-July 5), 5-day (July 1-5), 4-day (July 2-5), 3-day (July 3-5) schedules while the Unrated has a 3-day (July 3-5) schedule to play in.

The Open Section will be a FIDE rated 9-round event where GM and IM norms are possible. Last year winner was GM Ilya Smirin.

The event has a $210,000 prize fund, unconditionally guaranteed.

Open Section: $20000-10000-5000-2500-1300-1000-800-700-600-500, clear winner bonus $300, top FIDE 2300-2449 $4000-2000-1000-800-500, top FIDE U2300/Unr $4000-2000-1000-800-500. If tie for first, top 2 on tiebreak play speed game 10 pm 7/5 for title & bonus prize.

Under 2200 Section: $12000-6000-3000-1500-1000-800-600-500-400-400, top U2100 (no unr) $2000-1000, unrated limit $2000.

Under 2000 Section: $12000-6000-3000-1500-1000-800-600-500-400-400, top U1900 (no unr) $2000-1000, unrated limit $1000.

Under 1800 Section: $12000-6000-3000-1500-1000-800-600-500-400-400, top U1700 $2000-1000.

Under 1600 Section: $10000-5000-2500-1300-900-700-600-500-400-400, top U1500 $1600-800.

Under 1400 Section: $8000-4000-2000-1300-900-700-600-500-400-400, top U1300 $1200-600.

Under 1200 Section: $4000-2000-1000-800-600-500-400-400-300-300, top U1000 $1000-500.
