44 cores server to power TCEC Season 10

intel 44 coresThe premier computer chess event TCEC Season 10 is starting next week with the participation of the strongest chess software. The event will not only be record breaking regarding the ELO and strength of the engines, but also the hardware for S10 will be a 44 core server.

Here are the full parameters of the machine for the TCEC S10 event:

Dual Xeon 2699 v4 – total 44 cores
Supermicro X10DRL-i
64 GB RAM meaning max of 16 GB hash per engine
250 GB Crucial SSD
Windows Server 2012 R2

For Stage 1 the server will be limited to 22 cores, from Stage 2 and for the Superfinal the event will run on the full power of the 44 cores.

Note: in all stages ponder will be off for the engines, as per the rules of the competition
