45th National Chess Congress in Philadelphia

Loews Philadelphia HotelThe 45th Annual National Chess Congress was held on 28-30th November at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The 6-round Swiss event had ten sections and offered $35,000 in prizes:

Premier: $3000-1500-800-400-200, clear win or 1st on tiebreak $100, U2400/Unr $1600-800. FIDE rated
Under 2200: $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Under 2000: $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Under 1800: $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Under 1600: $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Under 1400: $1600-800-400-300-200.
Under 1200: $1600-800-400-300-200.
Under 1000: Trophies to top 10, 3 year USCF membership with magazine to 1st.
Under 800: Trophies to top 10, 3 year USCF membership with magazine to 1st.
Scholastic Under 600: K-12 only, trophies to top 10, 3 year USCF membership with magazine to 1st.

1-4. GM Sergey Erenburg 2668 VA, GM Alexander Fishbein 2569 NJ, IM Dean Ippolito 2543 NJ and FM Michael H Bodek 2487 NY – 5.0
5-8. GM Gata Kamsky 2747 NY, GM Mark C Paragua 2593 NY, IM Thomas Bartell 2458 PA and FM Kazim Gulamali 2399 GA – 4.5
