The 45th Rilton Cup Chess Festival is scheduled to take place from 27th December, 2015 to 5th January, 2016, in Clarion Hotel Stockholm, in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden and the most populous city in the Nordic region.
The Rilton Cup was initiated by a donation from Dr. Tore Rilton, and since 1985 the tournament is financially secured. The challenge prize, donated by SEB, is a Rilton-medal in genuine gold.

The event is separated into four open tournaments:
– Rilton Cup – 9-round FIDE-Swiss Rilton Elo with tempo of play 90′ X 40 moves + 30′ + 30″, open to all players rated at least 2200
– Rilton Elo – 9-round FIDE-Swiss Rilton Elo with tempo of play 90′ X 40 moves + 30′ + 30″, open to all players rated below 2200
– Open Under 1800 – 7-round Swiss tournament for players rated below 1800
– Open Under 1600 – 7-round Swiss tournament for players rated below 1600
The main prizes in Rilton Cup will be awarded as follows: 20,000 SEK (nearly € 2,200)/ 15,000 SEK/ 12,000 SEK/ 10,000 SEK/ 8,000 SEK/ 6,000 SEK/ 5,000 SEK/ 4,000 SEK/ 3,000 SEK.
Top prize in Rilton Elo is 7,000 SEK, the winner in the Open Tournament Under 1800 will be granted 4,000 SEK, while the winner of the Under 1600 Section will be awarded 2,000 SEK.
NB! Sofia rule is applied in Rilton Cup 2015-2016, no draw offer is allowed until after move 30. None of the main prizes or rating prizes will be shared. The highest rated players are not eligible for rating prizes. Due to legal requirements preliminary tax will be deducted from all prizes.
Rilton Cup preliminary list of titled players consists of 15 Grandmasters, including last year’s winner and participant of the Norway Chess 2015 elite tournament GM Jon Ludvig Hammer.

When you register, the information should contain: name, address, date of birth, club, Elo rating, national rating, e-mail and phone number where you can be reached during the tournament.
Late entry can be made in the playing venue before 12:00 with an extra fee of 100 SEK.
The first 240 registered players are guaranteed participation. It is possible to book a room at Clarion Hotel Stockholm (www.clarionstockholm.com/hotell), but this should be done through Stockholm Chess Federation. Price per night, including breakfast, is 695 SEK for a single room, and 795 SEK for a double room.
