8th New York International

8th New York InternationalThe Marshall Chess Club is organizing the 8th New York International which will be held in two sections: Championship on July 15-19 and U2200 on July 23-26.

In honor of the Marshall’s 100-year anniversary (the club was established in 1915), the NY International will be returning home to 23 W. 10th St. this year.

The Championship Section will be a 9-round Swiss event with the time control 40/90, SD/30+30, only open to players rated over 2000 FIDE or USCF. The event will be FIDE rated and GM/IM norms are possible.

The prize fund of $9,000 is unconditionally guaranteed: $4000-2000-1000, U2400 FIDE: $1000-500, U2300 FIDE: $500.

Currently top rated players are: GM Sergei Azarov FIDE 2626 BLR, GM Robert Hess FIDE 2571 USA, GM Hedinn Steingrimsson FIDE 2532 ISL, GM Mark Paragua FIDE 2501 PHI, GM Michael Rohde FIDE 2451 USA, IM Svetlin Mladenov FIDE 2446 BUL and IM David Eggleston FIDE 2429 ENG.

The U2200 Section will be a 7-round Swiss with the time control 40/90, SD/30+30, only open to players rated U2200 FIDE or USCF. The event will be FIDE rated.

The prize fund is $8,000 based on 70 entries: $3000-2000-1000, U1900: $1000-500, U1600: $500.
