African Zone 4.3 Championships

Botswana is currently hosting the 4.3 zonal championship in its nation’s capital, Gaborone.

The event runs from May 1st to May 8th and will a 9 round Swiss open valid for FIDE classical rating.

The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and 30 moves for the rest of the game, 30 seconds increment

The field features some of the strongest players from the southern region. IM Johannes Manyedi Mabusela, Bwalya Gillian  and Makoto Rodwell are leading the field. Botswana players will try to hold home court and will be led by IM Oatlhotse Providence.

The first seed in the women’s section is Tuduetso Sabure.
