Al Riyadh International Chess Championship

NGiTSaudi Chess Association, Qatar Chess Federation and NGiT have organized the Saudi Riyadh International Chess Championship on 26-28th June at the cultural cafe in Riyadh.

The 11-round Swiss tournament was played with the rapid time control on 10’+5”.

Unrated player Elwin Retanal from Philippines claimed a clear first place with 10 points, leaving the second-placed IM Mohamed Tissir from Morocco half a point behind. Full standings below.

International panel of arbiters helped the local chess federation, which recently joined FIDE, to manage the tournament.

The prize fund was 14,000 SAR (around 2800 EUR).
