Aleksandra Goryachkina: I didn’t think that my position was that challenging

The first game of the FIDE Women’s Candidates Pool B finals saw a great fight of 100 moves between Aleksandra Goryachkina and Tan Zhongyi. The Chinese grandmaster seemed to have great chances to score a full point, but Goyachkina was solid and held a draw.

In the post-game interview, Goryachkina explained that she didn’t have the feeling that she had a challenging position: “All in all, I didn’t think that my position was that challenging. We were just moving back and forth and I don’t recall having any major problems. Maybe my opponent was able to play stronger at some moments, but she didn’t”. See the complete interview below
