After eight played rounds at the Tata Steel Challengers 2023, Alexander Donchenko maintains the sole leadership in the event with a score of 6/8 points, and Velimir Ivic and Mustafa Yilmaz follow with 5.5 points.

Alexander Donchenko yesterday played a draw against Abhimanyu Mishra. It was a quick uneventful game which eventually finished in the 31st move.

Mustafa Yilmaz was victorious against Javokhir Sindarov with white pieces. Sindarov miscalculated the Rook sacrifice and Yilmaz achieved the decisive advantage.

Velimir Ivic won his game against Jergus Pechac. It seemed that Pechac has good chances for a draw, but he made a decisive mistake with 36…Kf8 and resigned a few moves later.

Indian grandmaster Adhiban B scored his first victory in the event, defeating Luis Paulo Supi with Black pieces. All the other games finished in a draw.

Today is the second free day of the event, and games will continue tomorrow, January 24th, starting at 14:00 CEST.
