American 2.4 Zonal Championship in Brazil

The Absolute Zonal Championship of Zone 2.4 will be held from April 27th to May 3rd 2013 at the Hotel Tropical, Ponta Negra Manaus – Brazil.

The countries that belong to this zone are Brazil, Bolivia and Peru. The tournament will provide two spots at the next World Cup.

The event will be a 9-round Swiss open. The time control will be 90 minutes for the game plus 30 seconds increments per move starting from move 1.

69 players are already registered to participate. Most of the players are from Brazil, and they are headed by GM Rafael Leitao, GM Alexandr Fier and current national champion GM Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian. Peru will be represented by four participants, including GM Jorge Cori and ex-junior world champion WGM Deysi Cori. Bolivia will only send one player, FM Jorge Molina.
