Indian chess legend and 15th World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand will continue with competitive chess even if gets elected as the FIDE Deputy President, informed The Times of India. “I’m in the stage where I am playing much less than before. I have my academy as well, which I will continue to dedicate a lot of time to. Despite my win in the election, I will continue to play, I am not retiring, yes the intensity of tournaments will definitely be less as I have to do a lot of things simultaneously” said Anand at the press conference held in New Delhi on Friday. The actual FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich announced his team for the second term with Viswanathan Anand on the ticket as Deputy. The FIDE Congress will be held in Chennai, India between 31 July 2022 and 09 August 2022 as part of the Chess Olympiad 2022 (see all Olympiad news here).
