Andrew Paulson passed away

Andrew PaulsonFounder of AGON Andrew Paulson passed away at the age of 59, Interfax quoted Alexey Kazakov, senior executive at Rambler&Co.

The American businessman established AGON in 2012 and signed a long-term contract with FIDE to organize and promote the events of the World Championship cycle.

From October 2013 he was President of the English Chess Federation, until he stepped down in March 2014.

In summer 2014 he withdrew from AGON and Ilya Merenzon took over the company.

In Russia Paulson is remembered as founder of “Afisha” magazine (in 1998) and SUP Media which incorporates Gazeta.ru (in 2006).
