Aravindh Chithambaram wins 2nd leg of MPL Indian Chess Tour

The second leg of the MPL Indian Chess Tour 2022 was played from 2-5 June on chess24.com. 16 players battled over 15 round-robin rounds for the spot in one of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour events.

Aravindh Chithambaram won the event scoring 32/42 points and secured his seat in one of the world-renowned events of the Champions Chess Tour. Aravindh had a greater number of wins than Nihal Sarin who had the same score of 32 points but claimed second place. (scroll down for final rankings)

India’s own elite online chess tour started on March 31 with a star-studded line-up of 16 top talents from every corner of the country. The MPL Indian Chess Tour is the first regional expansion of the world-renowned Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. Its launch underlines the incredible boom in chess interest in India. A prize pot of $100,000 is at stake in the MPL event plus golden tickets to the elite Tour where India’s best will get to take on the world’s best.
