Belarus Chess Champions 2021 crowned

Belarus Open and Women’s Chess Championships 2021 simultaneously took place from 8-16 May in Minsk.

Both events were played within 9 rounds, swiss system, with 23 players in Open section and 12 players in Women’s section.

GM Stupak Kirill convincingly claimed the title of the National Champion scoring 7/9 points, despite the bad start and a loss in the first round! GM Fedorov Alexei and FM Siniauski Artsiom tied for the second place with 6 points, each. According to tiebreak criteria Fedorov took silver and Siniauski came third.

WFM Aliaksandra Tarasenka at the age of 15 earned the title of Belarus Women Champion for the second time in her career! Tarasenka repeated the success from 2019 when she won the National championship as a 13 year old girl!

Aliaksandra Tarasenka and WFM Yana Ilyuchyk tied at the top with 7 points, each. Due to lower tiebreak criteria, Ilyuchyk came second, while Poliakova Varvara claimed bronze with 6.5 points.
