Bibisara Assaubayeva retains her World Blitz Champion title

Bibisara Assaubayeva emerged as the Winner of the 2022 FIDE World Women’s Blitz Chess Championship in her homeland, Kazakhstan. Assaubayeva defended her 2021 Blitz Champion title. “I am very happy to win and defend my title. And I am especially happy to do it in Kazahstan, my homeland“, said Assaubayeva at the press conference.

With score of 13/17 points, Bibisara Assaubayeva finished clear first with Humpy Koneru winning silver as she trailed by half a point. Polina Shuvalova and Tan Zhongyi tied for third with 12 points, with tiebreak criteria determining Polina Shuvalova as the bronze medalist and Tan Zhongyi came fourth.
