Boris Avrukh wins Greater Midwest Class Championships

The 2nd Annual Greater Midwest Class Championships were held on 28-30th November at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg Hotel, 1800 E. Golf Rd., Schaumburg, Illinois.

The event consisted of five sections: Master/Expert (2000-up), Class A (U2000), Class B (U1800), Class C (U1600) and Class D (U1400 and below). All groups were completed over 5 rounds of Swiss system.

The main section had 35 participants. GM Boris Avrukh from Israel emerged clear winner with 4,5/5 points to claim the top prize of 1500 USD.

Master section final standings:
1. GM Boris Avrukh ISR 2593 – 4,5
2-3. GM Vladimir Georgiev MKD 2517 and FM Alexander Velikanov USA 2234 – 4,0
4-8. GM Nikola Mitkov MKD 2482, FM William Fisher USA 2231, IM Florin Felecan USA 2329, Zach Kasiurak USA 2215 and Jacob Furfine USA 2032 – 3,5 etc
