Brazil Chess Championship Round 7

The 78th Brazil Chess Championship is taking place from 10th to 20th December, 2011, at the Hotel Dann Inn Cambuí in Campinas. 12 players compete in the round robin tournament.

The competitors exercise a fantastic fighting spirit and only a handful of draws were signed. In round seven all games ended with decisive results.

GM Rafael Leitao, four-times champion of Brazil, is maintaining a full-point margin ahead of the 2005 champion Alexandr Fier.

The defending champion Giovanni Vescovi defeated the legendary Henrique Mecking with black pieces but is still bellow the 50% fold.
