Canadian Closed Championship 2015 – FIDE Zonal 2.2

Canada FlagThe 2015 Canadian Closed Chess Championship, which is also FIDE Zonal 2.2 tournament, is set to take place from 10-16th July at the Peter Clark Hall, Guelph University Centre, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

The tournament format is 9-round Swiss with the time control 40/90, G/30+ 30 seconds from move one. The winner of the Championship will qualify for the 2015 World Chess Cup in Baku.

Eligible to participate are:
– Players with a CFC, FQE or FIDE rating over 2100 as per the first updated lists of May 2015 for the CFC, FQE and FIDE
– Provincial Association and Territorial nominees, with a minimum rating of 2000
– FIDE titled FM, WIM or higher
– Canadian Junior Champion and Canadian Women’s Champion

Currently top rated are GM Eric Hansen 2583, GM Bator Sambuev 2532, IM Nikolay Noritsyn 2454, IM Razvan Preotu 2452, IM Tomas Krnan 2428, IM Artiom Samsonkin 2420, IM Raja Panjwani 2400, IM Richard Wang 2361 and FM Jason Cao 2332.
