Chess Amateur Tournament in Sochi

TLShThe International Chess Amateur Tournament is held from March 31th (arrival day) to April 8th (departure day) 2018 in Sochi at the Bridge Resort 4****. It is a tournament dedicated to non-professional chess players, with a significant prize fund. Everyone has the right to participate in the tournament, except for the holders of the title “International Grandmaster” among men and players with a FIDE rating above 2325.

In addition to the main competition, an international tournament for children – born in 2006 and younger, is held, with a FIDE rating of no higher than 2200 (titles – no difference).

Organizers are LLC Chess Amateur International with Chief arbiter IA Mikhail Vitalievich Kryukov.

More about the Chess Amateur Tournament

Chess Amateur Tournament is held on the Swiss system in 9 rounds, while the Children’s Tournament is a 7 rounds Swiss. Time control for both events is 90 minutes to the end of the game + 30 seconds for each move made, starting with the first. Events are held according to the rules of FIDE, effective from 01/01/2018.

The total prize fund of the Chess amateurs Tournament is 1 850 000 rubles or around 30 000 USD

1st prize – 300 000 rubles
2nd prize – 200 000 rubles
3rd prize – 100 000 rubles
4th prize – 75 000 rubles
5th prize – 50 000 rubles
6-10th prizes – 40 000 rubles
11-15th prizes – 35 000 rubles
16-20th prizes – 30 000 rubles
21-30th prizes – 25 000 rubles

The following additional prizes are provided for the categories:

1. Among players with a FIDE rating of 1900 and below:

1st prize – 40 000 rubles,
2nd prize – 20 000 rubles,
3rd prize – 10 000 rubles

2. Among players with a FIDE rating of 2100 and below:

1st prize – 40 000 rubles,
2nd prize – 20 000 rubles,
3rd prize – 10 000 rubles

3. Among the boys, players in 2002 years born and younger:

1st prize – 40 000 rubles,
2nd prize – 20 000 rubles,
3rd prize – 10 000 rubles

4. Among the veterans, players born in 1957 and older:

1st prize – 40 000 rubles,
2nd prize – 20 000 rubles,
3rd prize – 10 000 rubles

5. Among women:

1st prize – 40 000 rubles,
2nd prize – 20 000 rubles,
3rd prize-10.000 rubles

A participant can receive more than one prize. Extra prizes are not shared!

The total prize fund of the Children’s Tournament is 300,000 rubles.

1st prize – 50 000 rubles
2nd prize – 40 000 rubles
3rd prize-30 000 rubles
4th prize – 25 000 rubles
5th prize – 20 000 rubles
6-10th prizes-15 000 rubles
11-16th prizes-10 000 rubles

In both events in the case of the sharing of prizes “Hort System” is used.
