“Chess stars 2022” tournament in Moscow, with Karjakin and 230.000 eur prize fund

The International round-robin tournament “Chess stars 2022” will be held from 29 September – 5 October in Moscow, Russia. The event will gather more than 100 players, among whom are 10 world-known grandmasters from Russia, Azerbaijan, India and Spain: Sergey Karjakin, Vladimir Kramnik, Teimour Radjabov, Alexander Grischuk, Francisco Vallejo, Vladislav Artemiev, Ernesto Inarkiev, Raunak Sadhwani, Aleksandra Goryachkina and Kateryna Lagno. This will be Karjakin’s second tournament after he received a 6 months ban from participating in FIDE events as he competed this July at the 4-player round-robin in Moscow. This time, however, he is playing without the ban, which has just expired

The “Chess Stars 2022” event will include a series of qualifying tournaments for children U15, which will take place on 11th, 18th, and 25th of September. The best-ranked 100 finalists will take part in the main event having a chance to compete with grandmasters. The tournament will be played with rapid time control and features the total prize fund of 14,250,000 rubles (more than 228.000 euros).
