Copa Centroamericana y del Caribe

CaguasThe Chess Federation of Puerto Rico and the autonomous municipality of Caguas, Puerto Rico, are holding the 1st Center America and Caribbean Chess Cup from December 12 to December 16, 2012.

The tournament is open for players of the Center America and Caribbean Chess Federations affiliated to the International Federation of Chess (FIDE).

The Organization Committee covers the cost of accommodation and meals for one participant of each Chess Federation affiliated to FIDE in the Center America and Caribbean Area. All other extra participants are required to meet their own accommodation and meals at the official lodging place.

The tournament will have two categories – Open and Amateur, both to be played over 7 rounds of Swiss system.

Prizes: 1st Place $1,800, 2nd Place $1,200, 3rd Place $800, 4th Place $500, 5th Place $300. Best player Under 2100 FIDE – $200.00, Best player Under 1900 FIDE – $200.00. Best Puerto Rican Player of the East Area – $200.00. Awards can be increased in case of registration of more than 100 participants.
