Ali Al Sulaiti wins Bahrainis Chess Championship

Ali Al Sulaiti finished on top in the Bahrainis Chess Championship which concluded yesterday at the Bahrain Mind Sports Association (BMSA) premises in Muharraq.

The Bahrain national team player emerged overall winner with six and half points from seven rounds, just half point ahead of Fide Master Maher Ayyad who came second.

Third was veteran Ali Al Ghasra (5 points), Khalaf Bukhalaf (4.5) fourth, Ali Al Jaber, Mohammed and Khalil Bukhalaf (4 each) who share fifth place.

The winners will be honoured tonight at the closing ceremony starting at 8.30pm at the BMSA premises and under the patronage of its president Adel Al Assomi.

The seven-round Swiss ranking tournament was organised to select the best players for the national team who will be taking part in regional and international competitions such as the GCC Teams Championship and the World Chess Olympiad in Germany.
