Diego Flores wins the XIII Magistral Rio Grande

Last Tuesday, around noon, the XIII Magistral Internacional de Ajedrez “92do. Aniversario de Río Grande” culminated. It was organized by the Rio Grande Chess Club and counted with the support of the Tierra del Fuego Government, through the Secretary of Sports. The event took place at the “Yaganes” Cultural Center.

Just like last year, International Grandmaster Diego Flores was the winner after defeating Chilean Pablo Garcia in the seventh round. Flores was fortunate given that Nahuel Diaz and Martín Lorenzini drew their game and allowed him to finish in clear first place.

Chilean representative Nicolas Bustamante was the best in the category U-20; Ana Laura Muñoz was the best lady; and Waldo Gonzalez took home the prize given out by Jaque Mate Ushuaia to the best ranked player that belongs to this institution.
