Ding Liren and Fabiano Caruana celebrate 20 years of chess battles

In 2022 Ding Liren and Fabiano Caruana celebrate their 20-year-long chess rivalry anniversary. Their first encounter happened back in 2002 at the U10 World Youth Chess Championship in Heraklion, Crete. Back then the non-rated Ding Liren defeated Caruana.

Today they meet at the event they dreamed about as kids – FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022.
