Elisabeth Paehtz: It is not the victory I can be happy about

FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Astana 2022 kicked off today in Kazakhstan. The first round finished with two decisive games with Aleksandra Goryachkina and Elisabeth Paehtz taking the early lead in the event.

Elisabeth Paehtz defeated her compatriot Dinara Wagner in the first round of the event and in the post-game interview explained her preparation for the game. Paehtz explained that whenever she plays against a German national team member she feels pressure that she shouldn’t lose and that she must win the game, but that she of course wants Dinara to do well in the event: “It is not a victory I can be happy about“.
