The 2013 European Chess Club Cup has started today at the Rodos Palace Hotel on Rhodes, Greece.
53 clubs in Open section and 11 in Women section are competing.
In the opening ceremony the players and guests were greeted by Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, member of the ECU Board, Savvas Diakostamatiou, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Afantou, and Ioannis Mahairidis, Governor of the South Aegean Region.
Governor Mahairidis announced the tournament open and made the honorary first move in the game Caruana – Agdestein.
